Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior official said the attack rendered him without words and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
